License

How licensing works

When you purchase a DM Letter Studio font, you are purchasing a perpetual commercial license to use that font under the terms of the license tier you selected. Your font files are available for download immediately after payment, and a copy of your license can also be provided by email for your records.

You are responsible for keeping the font files secure and preventing any unauthorized access, copying, sharing, or redistribution. You may only use the fonts in ways that are explicitly permitted by the license you purchased. Any other use is not allowed.

The Standard License grants worldwide, perpetual rights for everyday brand and marketing use. You may create one registered or unregistered logo for a single legal entity. You can later refresh or completely redesign that same mark for the same entity without paying an additional fee. Web use is allowed by self-hosting the webfont on one publicly accessible domain that you control; all subdomains under that domain are included. There is no page-view cap. You may stage and test the site on localhost or password-protected servers as part of your normal workflow. Third-party font hosting services such as Google Fonts or Adobe Fonts are not permitted under this license.

For social media, you may publish unlimited posts consisting of static images or short videos up to two minutes each on any platform and on any account you manage for the licensed entity. For publications, you may create and distribute up to 5,000 aggregate copies across print and digital download. This total includes items like brochures, catalogs, lookbooks, magazines, PDFs, and e-zines.

Merchandise under the Standard License is allowed up to a combined total of 2,500 physical end products for sale that incorporate the font in their artwork. This cap applies across all items and variations. A multi-item pack that is sold as a single SKU (for example, three stickers or a bundle of four postcards) counts as one product toward the limit. Promotional giveaways and in-house uses such as stationery, uniforms, and signage do not count toward the merchandise total.

This license expressly includes crafting-related goods. You may create handmade or manufactured items for sale, such as mugs, tumblers, shirts, hats, tote bags, decals, cards, labels, stamps, and wall art, provided your total manufactured quantity across all such goods does not exceed 2,500. You may also create digital craft files for sale, including SVG cut designs for machines like Cricut or Silhouette. When selling digital craft files, all text must be converted to outlines (curves/paths) so that customers cannot type new words using the font. The font files themselves may not be included, linked, embedded, or shared in any way. Editable templates that allow buyers to change the wording with the font are not allowed under this license.

Embroidery and needlework designs are covered as well. You may create and sell stitch files (such as .PES, .DST, .EXP and similar) that incorporate lettering rendered from the font, provided the lettering is converted to stitches. The stitch files must not allow end users to type new words with the font, and the font files themselves must not be included in any download. Physical embroidered goods you produce for sale count toward the same 2,500-unit merchandise cap. Embroidery stitch files themselves do not count as “publications”; treat them as digital craft files and follow the same conversion and no-redistribution rules.

Where a single design is offered in multiple sizes, colors, or materials, those are considered variations of one item. If you sell the same design in different packs (for example, “single sticker” and “5-pack”), count each unique SKU you manufacture physically toward the 2,500 limit. If you partner with a local print shop to fulfill your items, the manufacturing still counts toward your total; the shop may not keep or reuse the font files.

Tattoo use is permitted for one physical tattoo studio at a single street address. The font may be installed only on computers owned or leased by that studio and may be used only for clients tattooed at that address. If the studio relocates, the license moves with it. Off-site conventions and guest spots are not covered by the Standard License.

For promotional material, there is no cap on impressions or printed copies. You may create online ads, posters, flyers, banners, and other promotional pieces in any quantity, provided the usage remains within the scope of this license.

The Standard License does not permit game development, app or software use, or any form of embedding in a consumer application. It also does not cover motion pictures or television series. If your project involves an app, software, game, film, or TV production, or if you need more than one website domain, more than 2,500 merchandise units, or editable templates for customers, please upgrade to a higher tier.
